The theme for the July Cookalong was cookies so as you can imagine I went a bit crazy and baked up 5 different offerings. Theresa from the Green Apron was tasked with judging and sat down with her family to look through all of the entries. You can imagine how delighted I was to hear that Theresa and her children liked my Peanut Butter Button Cookies enough to award me 1st place. Can you believe it, little old me baked up a batch of Blue Ribbon cookies? I couldn't either!
The Friday before last I was holed up at home, keeping in out of the mucky winter weather outside. The post man pulled up in his little green van and out he came carrying a brown paper parcel. My curiosity was peaked by now, I hadn't ordered anything online so wasn't expecting anything to be delivered. It must be a gift so, I thought to myself. A gift for me, now who would be sending me something nice. I opened up the paper to reveal a beautiful box inside full to bursting with jars of preserves, chutneys and herb mixes. The cloves and star anise sprinkled in the box instantly filled the room with a wonderful aroma. My beautiful prize included:
- Mixed Berry Preserve
- Jostaberry Jam
- Wild Hawthorn Jelly
- Chocolate Raspberry Conserve
- Raspberry Preserve
- Sugar Plum Fairy Chutney
- Prizewinning Spicy Tomato & Charred Pepper Chutney
- Crunchy Honey Mustard
- Italian Butter Mix
Thank you so much for the wonderful prize Theresa.
If you would like to try some of The Green Aprons products they are available for purchase every Saturday at the Limerick Milk Market.
Wow. The cookies look great and the prize sounds fab! Congrats.
ReplyDeleteHi Sharon,
ReplyDeleteThe cookies were really yummy, think I might need to make some this weekend. The prize is really fantastic, everything I have tried so far has been yummy so can't wait to get stuck into the rest.
Oh man such an amazing prize! Those preserved sound delicious. Was a much deserved win - your cookies did indeed look like prize-winning fayre. Love the sound of Sugar Plum Fairy Chutney! Enjoy.
ReplyDeleteGlutton,
ReplyDeleteA super prize. Can't wait to try the Sugar Plum Fairy Chutney and see what magic lies within. Sorry about the problems commenting.
Congratulations - those cookies look fantastic!
ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely surprise, so much nicer to have the postman delivering a yummy parcel like that rather than the usual bills!!!!!
Sugar Plum Fairy Chutney might just be the most enticingly named food product I've heard of all year. Congrats again on the well-deserved win! x
ReplyDeleteBrownieville Girl,
ReplyDeleteIt is so lovely to receive a surprise gift, I almost kissed the postman I was so excited. I don't think he'll be back for a while. :)
Kristin,
ReplyDeleteI think it might be the most enticingly named food I have EVER heard of. The Prizewinning Chutney is completely delicious so can't wait to taste it, and then hopefully I will have visions of sugar plums dancing in my head! :)
You are my blogging hero :-D Im so delighted that all is going brilliant for you and the award is MUCH deserved! I love the reference to the green van btw- its the little things you miss whilst away... :-)
ReplyDeleteYou know, those Chester slices and banana loaves look divine, i might just have to try them ( even if im completely broke from traveling!) and Im LOVING the Christmas feel. Were having the Christmas markets starting soon here in Stuttgart, apparently they are so beautiful. IM also inspired to do a Thanksgiving meal ( any excuse for a roast with all the trimmings me says.....!!!)
Hi Ruairi,
ReplyDeleteNow do I need to run myself up a cape to go with my new hero status? :D You just can't beat the little green van pulling up outside the door.
Definitely try out the Chester slice and banana loaves. My sis loved the chester slice and I have turned a 7yr old into a banana bread addict.
When are you going to join the festive fun and put some decorations up on your blog? So jealous of the Stuttgart markets. I really want to visit some European Christmas markets. Maybe next year I will get my act in gear. For now I am going to have to rely on you for a fantastic blog post to fill me in.
I was actually thinking about doing a Thanksgiving meal but thought it might be a bit much so close to Christmas. I think it is such a great thing and with all the doom and gloom in the media in Ireland at the moment it would be nice to gather with friends and family just to give thanks for all that we have. Next year. Looks like I'm going to be busy in 2011! :)
Well deserved! Prize looks fantabulous altogether!
ReplyDeleteThanks Sarah, the prize is fab, am very much enjoying working my way through it. :)
ReplyDeleteWell done! That Chocolate Raspberry Conserve is so good. I picked up a few jars for Christmas at last weekend's Milk Market Meet and have to say that I'm not sure they'll last that long. Just too tasty! I'm a big fan of the mustard too.
ReplyDeleteHi Caroline, thank you. I haven't tried the Chocolate Raspberry Conserve yet as I am trying to save it. Might crack it open at the weekend when the hubs is away, otherwise he will eat it all. The mustard is yummy, have been enjoying it on toasted sandwiches and am planning a nice puff pastry pie with it too so might try that tomorrow night. Nommy!
